Biography
Appointed Assistant Conductor of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra for the 2022/23 season and winner of the Orchestra’s Prize at the 16th Mitropoulos Conducting Competition, Konstantinos has rapidly established himself as a versatile conductor across symphonic, operatic, and contemporary repertoire.
Greek-born and UK-based, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in orchestral conducting at the Ionian University under Miltos Logiadis and completed his Master of Music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, studying with Martyn Brabbins, Garry Walker, and Alasdair Mitchell. Awarded a full scholarship, he also received the Hugh S. Roberton Prize for Orchestral Conducting. Alongside his formal studies, he further developed his skills in ballet conducting under Richard Honner.
Konstantinos was selected as a conductor at the Klangspuren Schwaz Festival 2021 with the International Ensemble Modern Academy, assisting Johannes Kalitzke. The following year, he joined the Lucerne Festival Academy as a Conducting Fellow, working closely with Thomas Adès and Jonathan Stockhammer.
He was a semi-finalist in the Siemens Hallé International Conductors Competition in Manchester and is a finalist in the 19th Donatella Flick Conducting Competition, where he will conduct the London Symphony Orchestra. In 2024, he won the Athens State Symphony Orchestra’s Guest Conducting audition.
During the 2024/25 season, Konstantinos returned frequently to his home country, leading a range of opera and ballet productions, including Rossini’s La Cenerentola, Beethoven’s Fidelio, Delibes’ Coppélia, and Shchedrin’s Carmen. He also returned to the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group to record new works.
Following his operatic debut with the Greek National Opera in Puccini’s La Bohème, Konstantinos returns to the company to conduct Spyridon Samaras’s Flora Mirabilis, the 2025 International Opera Awards, and Bizet’s Carmen.
He continues to work closely with both the Athens and Thessaloniki State Orchestras, receiving reinvitations after his successful debuts with each.
